Qualifying and Training Staff Makes your Verification Department Effective

Part 2 of 6 – Tips from Craig’s Verification Tips on Staffing for The Art and Science of Verifications.

Not every candidate has the attributes of a verifier. Understanding the traits of top performers will provide a framework for qualifying individuals as you build your verification team. Here, the wisdom is, a little research goes a long way.

ReferencePro had its entire verification staff complete an assessment test where it became clear that the top performers shared four main traits:

  • Achievement
  • Assertiveness
  • Competitiveness
  • Motivation (the underlying energy that drives the other three traits).

Top performers are hungry to outdo each other and themselves each and every day.

The chart above shows the test results for those top performers.

After candidates are interviewed for verification positions and evaluated for cultural fit and relevant experience, they are given a keying test and simulated phone exercises to perform. If candidates do well up to that point, they are given the assessment test. Those who score highly on at least two of the four traits common to high performers move forward.

    How to Start? 1-2-3

  • Stop guessing.
  • Use assessment tests to select your candidates for verification work.
  • Start building on the strengths that you already have.
