Alabama:

The Alabama Board of Pharmacy has issued a policy outlining that pharmacist applicants are eligible for licensure by reciprocity if they (1) hold an active license in any state, and (2) the board receives confirmation of licensure by examination in any state regardless of license status. California:

As of July 1, 2024, the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) must expedite licensure application processing for service members currently enrolled in the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Program. Documentation of SkillBridge enrollment must be provided and board licensing requirements must be met. Ohio:

The Ohio Board of Medicine has officially adopted the Physician Assistant Licensure Compact via the passage of SB 28. OH SB 28

Virginia:

The Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation and the Department of Health Professions has made several updates to the legislation governing health professionals.

A license suspension issued due to payment of a fee not honored by the financial institution is prohibited from being described as a disciplinary action. VA HB 120

Virginia has joined the Physician Assistant Licensure Compact. VA HB 324

An advanced practice registered nurse may now practice without a practice agreement after three years of full-time experience (previously required 5 years). VA HB 971

The Board of Medicine may issue a provisional license to a physician licensed in a foreign country for up to two years. If the physician practices in a medically underserved area, they may then be granted a subsequent renewable two-year license. After completing two years of practice under the renewable license in a medically underserved area, the physician becomes eligible to apply for a full, unrestricted medical license. VA HB 995

Allows physician assistants employed by a hospital or certain medical facilities to practice without a separate practice agreement if the credentialing and privileging requirements of the facility include a practice agreement. VA SB 133

Washington:

On January 1, 2026, the Washington Medical Commission will begin issuing licenses for Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs).
