HIMSS Announces the Cancellation of their 2020 Global Health Conference & Exhibition

For the first time in 58 years, HIMSS is cancelling their Global Health Conference that was to commence on Monday, March 9th in Orlando, FL. They announced this morning, following recent reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), that it was necessary to cancel their global healthcare event.

HIMSS20 is the can’t-miss health information and technology event of the year, where professionals throughout the global health ecosystem connect for the education, innovation, and collaboration needed to reimagine health and wellness for everyone, everywhere. In a time of unprecedented healthcare disruption, HIMSS20 offers an essential and bold challenge to health information and technology professionals around the world: Be the change.

Hal Wolf, president and CEO of HIMSS said of the cancellation, “We recognize all the hard work that so many have put into preparing for their presentations and panels that accompany every HIMSS conference. Based on evaluation of evolving circumstances and coordination with an external advisory panel of medical professionals to support evidence-based decision making, it is clear that it would be an unacceptable risk to bring so many thousands of people together in Orlando next week.”

Verisys, who exhibits at and sponsors HIMSS, supports their decision to put the health and safety of all involved first. Verisys, like HIMSS, is dedicated to the betterment of health care for all patients and to the improvement of health care on a global scale. The mission of Verisys for the past 27 years has been to improve patient safety. Collaborating with leaders in health care and technology provides an avenue to exchange ideas and gain education on the most pressing challenges we are facing in health care today, and to further explore the ways we can come together to make real change. Verisys is dedicated to being a part of this necessary change.
