Margaret E. O’Kane, President, NCQA

The NCQA CVO Certification Process Is Voluntary

NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of managed care plans, managed behavioral health care organizations, preferred provider organizations, new health plans, physician organizations, credentials verification organizations, disease management programs, and other health-related programs.

Verisys first received its certification from NCQA in 2008 and is one of the only Credentials Verification Organizations that is fully certified by NCQA for 10 out of 10 verification services. The 10 services include: License to Practice, Malpractice Claims History, DEA Registration, Medicaid/Medicare Sanctions, Medical Board Sanctions, Work History, Education and Training, Practitioner Application Processing, Ongoing Monitoring, and CVO Application and Attestation Content.

Key elements to an NCQA CVO Certification & Credentialing

Quality assessment program that health care organizations can use to assess Credentials Verification Organizations and other organizations that verify the credentials of physicians.

Evaluates a CVO’s management of various aspects of its data collection and verification operation, and the process it uses to continuously improve the services it provides.

Reduces duplicative oversight and inefficient gathering of information by health plans and CVOs.

Includes rigorous on-site evaluations conducted by a team of health care professionals and certified credential specialists. A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team’s finding and determines certification based on the CVO’s compliance with NCQA standards.

Is governed by NCQA’s rigorous Standards for Certification, developed with the assistance of representatives from the credentials verification industry, and managed care organizations.

VERISYS Is a Credentials Verification Organization, Fully Accredited by URAC

Since 1991, URAC has been an independent leader in creating standards for quality health care — working with its members through accreditation, education and measurement. This is to ensure that affiliated organizations in the health care industry are held to the high standards of validated commitment, high quality, and transparent accountability.

The prestigious symbol of excellence is only available for display to companies that undergo a rigorous process of accreditation, outlined by a broad range of stakeholders, and committed to protect consumers and providers of health care.

By applying for and receiving CVO accreditation, [Verisys] has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care. Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare, and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards.

Alan P. Spielman, President and CEO, URAC

VERISYS is proud to participate in the federal government's E-Verify® program

With E-Verify we are able to confirm the employment authorization of all newly hired employees and most existing employees through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. Verisys employs only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization. This diverse workforce contributes greatly to the vibrancy and strength of our economy. With respect to new hires, the E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with a new hire’s completion of the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification upon commencement of employment.  E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.

Verisys Corporation Achieves ISO 27001 Certification Demonstrating Commitment to the Highest Standards of Information Security and Data Protection

Being ISO 27001 Certified validates our commitment to our core mission of protecting patients and the organizations that serve them.

The ISO 27001 family of standards is one of the few standards that uses a top-down, risk-based approach to evaluation and ensures that organizations have established methodologies and a framework that identify requirements and specifications for a comprehensive ISMS. The standard defines how an organization should manage and treat information more securely while meeting key objectives and reducing risk through applicable security controls.

Verisys is committed to protecting the data of our customers and the providers and patients they serve, and this certification is one way for us to prove that commitment. We are proud of this certification as one piece of the risk management puzzle and will continue to add more pieces to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information we process and store.
